Convene

Do you know what convene means? It means to come to a certain place and meet each other. Like a family reunion or a birthday party. That's when you convene. Those are just some examples of times when you convene. Here are a few sentence examples :
1. To the crown belongs the power not only to convene, but also to suspend and to terminate the sessions, and to dissolve, simultaneously or separately, the Congress and the elective portion of the Senate. —  The Governments of Europe
2. The Covens The word coven is a derivative of 'convene', and is variously spelt coven_, coeven_, covine_, cuwing_, and even covey_. —  The Witch-cult in Western Europe A Study in Anthropology
Ok? Do you understand these sentences? If you didn't, put it in comments and I'll create a post for the meaning of them.
