SCIENCE CAMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(TRUE STORY) PART 5

We did what we usually did up to breakfast. Then, they gave us some time to pack our bags. We could bring 1 item down and then we would get to play games with our naturalist. Our naturalist, Polaris, could not make it today because of a family situation. So we had a lady. While we were playing, we got to sign cards that we were making for our counselors. After that we went back to our cabins, packed the rest of the things up, and took them down to the gazebo. Then we went straight outside of the Dining Lodge, got our lunch and sat to eat it. Just a sandwich, an apple, a cookie, and some water. They had said that we would get to go on a Closing Hike but instead we had to board the bus. While we were coming back, we saw children playing at recess and it felt very weird that we were not at school. We were pretty sad that we had to leave Science Camp. As we approached Fremont, I knew now that we were kind of far away from Science Camp. The only other time I might get to go to Science Camp now, is if I get to be counselor in high school. But I won't get to enjoy it as the little kid.

SCIENCE CAMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(TRUE STORY) PART 4

Today was our last entire day! :( We woke up kind of early at 6:30. We did not start going to the bathrooms to brush our teeth though until 6:55. Instead, we all changed and talked and sang. :P 6:55 was actually pretty early to be in the bathrooms. Only a few other people were there. As breakfast time approached, a few of us had not changed our hairstyles from yesterday's Boogie Night including other girls in separate cabins from us. Once we had our breakfast we went into our separate trail groups. Today we went the same route as we had done yesterday. We also crossed the creek again. This time though, we went on a different route and we played really good games like Sardines. Sadly, it was raining pretty much once we left Science Camp Grounds. As we were getting through the forest with a wet and snobby feeling alot of people complained and said that they wanted to get back to their cabins . But ignoring this, Polaris just went on showing us things. Soon, I was part of the complaining people. I was really getting drenched! The next place we went was kind of my favorite. We got to make face "masks" which was kind of a paste we could make by rubbing rocks. We then put it on our faces. I took it off before we left that beautiful place. I also learnt how to skip rocks that day. Today we had planned to pick up trash to get the Earth Award. Some of the girl's cabin group asked Polaris if we would get the Earth Award and showed our bag of trash at the end of the hike. He said that we would, and we all got to boast to the boy's cabin group who were part of our trail group that we got all the possible awards. As if getting that wet weren't enough, Polaris took us to the garden so we could get some spinach seeds. Finally, we got to go to our cabins! Once in our cabins, we quickly started changing. It  felt pretty good to not feel soggy. We were in time for REC Time in which you could take a shower. Then came Teacher Time, Cabin Time, Dinner,  and then............... SKIT NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!! The moment we had all been waiting for and at the same time wished it weren't there. Why? Well, because skit night pretty much indicated our last night at Science Camp. I felt very sad. Anyway, our skit was kind of like "America's Got Talent" except we changed it to "Forest's Got Talent." It was really enjoyable. But we did not get to do Campfire since it was already 9:00 when the skits were done. We returned to our cabins knowing that a sad day was ahead of us. Today night, was the only night I slept from 9:30 to 7:00.

Alopecia areata

It is very funny how I discovered what alopecia areata meant. While you are typing, on the search they give some suggestions. One of them had alopecia areata. For some weird reason, I thought that it was an astronomy related word like aurora borealis. Guess what it turned out to be. It meant loss of hair.... It kind of made me laugh to see those images of partly bald heads. For example, look at the picture below!

Alopecia areata (AA) is a medical condition in which hair is lost from some or all areas of the body, usually from the scalp.

The next morning, a naturalist knocked on our door to wake us up and tell us it was 7:00 a.m. We all stretched and finally got up. Some people just lied down on their beds again like our funny friend in the "Ecstatic Eight." Today I was on the top bunk so it took me a while to get down because I was pretty sleepy. We then got ready and went down for breakfast. AFter that, we went to our cabins and got ready. We came down and helped carry the lunch together in our backpacks. This time, we were going to hike at Mt. Ellen. We went on a solo hike so it was pretty enjoyable. I was sweating so much by the time we reached the summit because I had seven layers on! So at the end I was just wearing my T-shirt after stripping all those 6 layers. Once we came back on to "base camp," we visited the garden. There we got to taste some different types of leaves. I tasted Kale and Fava Beans' leaves. If we came tomorrow, we could get Spinach Seeds he said. Now, we had REC time, cabin time, and a new thing called, "Teacher Time." Again, I spent my REC time taking a shower. Teacher Time was where we filled out what activities we did and what was our favorite part in a booklet. Cabin time, was spent on rehearsing our skit and making some final touches. We had dinner which was pizza...... Woohoo! Then we went back to our cabins and this time we got ready for................................. "BOOGIE NIGHT!" We had some crazy hairstyles. We did some weird dance called the Chiga Chiga. Then we got to learn and do our own dances. Everybody did the macarina. Today I also learned a terrible dance with boys but a great dance with girls and teachers. It is called the Barnyard Boogie. Then we enjoyed a little bit more time of our own and then went out to "Campfire." There, as usual, we would have a funny part a new song  part and then we are dismissed out to  our cabins while singing, "Friends are Special." Tomorrow was our last entire day. I'm sure no one could get to sleep tonight. I was on the top bunk.

SCIENCE CAMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(TRUE STORY) PART 2

In the morning, I heard whispers and saw a flashlight beam! The whisper was saying something about the time. Then I realized it was one of my friends. She had said it was 7:45 and that was when we were supposed to be at the Dining Lodge. Our counselor turned on the lights and then that friend realized that it was actually 6:45. We were saved. Phew! We would have been "mean" to her. But it was her birthday today! Some of our cabin mates went- like me, outside in their P.J.'s to brush our teeth. Then we would come back and then the next group set of girls would go. (They would already be changed.) By the time we were done and cleaned up our cabins a little, it would be time for breakfast. The one thing I did not like about going to meals from our cabins was that we had to go down these slopes and one of them was very humongo. The boys had it pretty easy since they had only 3-4 steps to get to the Boys' Village. Anyway, after breakfast we went back to our cabins and got ready for a day. We also cleaned up our cabins since you could earn, "The Golden Dustpan Award" which was where if your cabin was spick and span, they would exchange your regular dustpan with a metallic gold painted dustpan. Today we were going on a trip to the tidepools and the beach. We would also get to see Pescadero Creek (O, Pescadero!), a marsh and Eudora, "The Talking Tree." At the tidepools we could pick a partner and go around up to the boundaries. I picked the "Birthday Girl" since we had planned so on the bus. After a day of exploring, we came back on to the campus. We had REC time and Cabin Time right now. Sadly, REC time was used up on taking a shower. To wait in line, and get dressed. Then, we had Cabin Time. We practiced for our skit in this time. Then we would have dinner after getting ready. Today we had a "Make Your Own Burrito" and it tasted delicioso. After this, we went back to our cabins and prepared for our night. Today was "Town Hall." (I forgot to tell you that I went on a Night Hike yesterday night and we got to see a large redwood tree named "Big Red.") At Town Hall my group discussed Families and whether we need a BART station running under Central Park. We said, "YES." After Town Hall we had a Night Campfire. At that time they will tell funny stories and sing songs and we would sing-a-long. My favorite song was "Friends are Special."That night I did not sleep very well. Everybody said that they had not slept very well so far every night that we had been here!

SCIENCE CAMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(TRUE STORY) PART 1

I was shopping for last minute items on Sunday night for Science Camp and I saw one of my friends (not part of The Ecstatic Eight). We started talking and after this I kept on seeing her around the shop. We both knew later that we were too excited to be talking to each other. Soon after, I said a final bye to her and my mom and I left the store. That night I felt thrilled about going to Science Camp. The next morning went pretty slow until I reached school. There was a line for every classroom. I left my luggage where it was supposed to be and joined my class's line. We started at 9:10 to board the buses. The ride was pretty boring. Once we reached the place, two people with crazy hairdos greeted us with excited waving. I did not feel a bit like this was Science Camp until we got some info. We then entered the dining lodge to have our lunch. We were then told to go somewhere following Moose (naturalist) and she told us who we were with in our cabins. The best thing was we were with everybody. The Ecstatic Eight were all together plus a girl who really doesn't have friends but is nice, and our counselor (a high school student). Then we were sent down to get our luggage from the gazebo and see our cabins. We also unpacked our sleeping bags in the time we got to be in our cabins. Then we went down and got some time called REC time. In this time we could stay in our cabins go to the office and play instruments or got to the library, play sports, or just explore their campus. After this we got cabin time and then dinner at 6:00. The first day for dinner we got Spaghetti. After dinner we went to our cabins and slept.... ZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzzZzZzZzZZ "Is anybody awake?" I whispered. Next thing I knew, I could not sleep. I slept for only 3 hours or so.

Hawaii Trip (re-edited) Part 7

Dec. 31

Today was Airport Day. We did not do much other than getting my birthday present at Del Sol. We reached home at 9:45 p.m. The End.
