Yay, today is my b-day! When I wake up in the morning , my parents wish me a happy b-day. Then we get ready to go somewhere. Today my parents will take me somewhere for my birthday. This time we decide on swimming in the ocean.We drive and look for a good beach to swim in. After about half an hour, we find Spencer Beach. We get out of our car and change in the changing rooms provided there at the beach. Then we get into the water. The water temperature is pretty warm. I try out freestyle in the water. Then my mom sees a turtle and she tells my little brother, me, and my dad. We spend quite some time in the water and around lunch time, we get out of the water and take a mini bath and change. We then eat and go on a trail. Unexpectedly, the trail leads us to a Hawaiian temple. It has been built by King Kamehameha. The reason he has builtt this temple is because he is told that the War God will protect him in war. The war that was approaching was against his cousin. He also is supposed to sacrifice anybody's body in the temple. He requests his cousin to come. His cousin knows he is being asked to come to his death but hh can not refuse it. So, he is sacrificed and that is the end. Amazingly, the spears built are 16 ft. This was our last stop since it was 4:00 by the time we came back from the trail. We went back to our hotel.

Hawaii Trip (re-edited) Part 5
Dec. 29
Today was literally volcano day. We went first thing at 9:00 on a Volcano Tour. We did not get to see much of the volcano. But we had much more of a rainforest tour. We listened to many different birds and learned about different trees. One of the birds had a funny call that sounded like a whistle. Once we were done with this tour, we went inside a lava tube. There was one where firelamps were lit along the wall. So, we could see where we were walking. For the other lava tube you had to be equipped with a flashlight. It was pitch dark and our flashlights were not as luminant. The others' flashlights did not help. So we went about 3/4 of the way and came back. Later on, we walked on igneous rocks and lava rocks. Some were pretty sharp. We stopped by a couple of these sites. Then we drove towards a 2004 lava flow. It took a pretty long to get there. The lava flow had blocked the middlle of a road so no one could drive there.We then parked our car and walked on the lava flow. It was really splendid. We also saw a sign that had on it written Road End. But more lava had flowed on past the sign. In some areas you could see portions of the road. Then we went on and saw a sea arch. After this we went to subway and made our sandwich saw Rainbow Falls and the night started to approach. We had a hard time looking for our next stop, an active volcano with lava. Luckily it will not flow. We walked on the volcano until we reached the top erupting point. Right as we stepped on a person signalled to someone else with an emergency signal. We thought the volcano was going to erupt and we left very hastily. Later we parked somewhere and ate because once we reached our hotel we knew it would be sleeping time. When we got to our hotel we fell flat on the beds provided.

Today we woke up early enough so to be on time for our Oahu flight and then from there to Hawaii. Later on.... As we approached Hawaii, I was excited to be still in Hawaii and also to be able to visit more places. It was around 1:30 or so when we reached our destination. When we checked in our hotel, they said we had to wait until 3:00. We did not know what to do so we just explored some shops and booked our submarine ride. We had a ride at 4:00. By the time we reached our hotel, it was 2:30 and we asked if we could get into our hotel. They said it was ready and so we got ready for our submarine ride after resting a little in our hotel. We then went to the body of water where this submarine ride was taking place. First we rode on a boat towards the submarine then we had to jump on the top of the submarine and get to this little porthole, climb down a ladder and below into the place we would be sitting and watching the sea critters. We saw many different types of fishes. It was th at at 5:00 that the ride ended. The rest of the day we shopped for our grocery needs and ate Shaved Ice. It was around dinner time whenwe reached our hotel and so we cooked and ate our food. Then we spent some time practicing and doing our work.Then we watched some TV and slept.

This morning we woke up pretty early. Today was our last day at Kauai. The next day we would leave for Hawaii or Big Island. I am not very sure of what we did that day. Let me recollect my memories... Ok I remember now. We first went to the Spouting Blow Horn. This is how it works. First of all,there is an island-like ground there. In the middle is a hole where water comes out. Whenever there is high tide, the force is so strong that by the time it reaches underneath the land the water is a spouting blow horn. Once we were done, we drove to a beautiful place. I don't think it it is that famous since I did not see any name for it. To get there, you have to either walk or drive over tons of puddles. Once you get there, there is a beautiful beach. If you travel further on there are places like the Spouting Blow Horn except instead of water being sprayed, it is air. It felt good standing next to it. As we continued on, we saw a large area of greenery. It looked like the place that woman dances around on at the beginning of, Sound of Music. Hawaii Trip (re-edited) Part 2

The next morning, we woke up at 7:00 and managed to get out of our hotel by 9:00. Today my mom had said we would go to a canyon. So, we drove and drove until we got onto a mountain. We started driving up the mountain, and it took forever for us to get there. Once we reached, we knew the drive was of no use when we couldn't see the canyon because of fog. we went to some different stops on the mountain. The last one was a hiking area on the canyon. We were actually walking on the side of a canyon. Soon, my mother started to worry because we were not equipped with the right hiking material. So, we walked back and drove to our hotel. The side of Kauai we had just visited was rainy. What is amazing about Kauai is that when it is raining on one side, it is shining on the other side. We were on the sunny side of Kauai. Once we reached our hotel room, we got dressed to go into the swimming pool. My dad and I did a little bit of swimming moves and tricks. Then we returned to our hotel. This time we took a bath and put on our regular clothes. We were going to go on the rounds around the backside of our hotel. There was a private snorkeling and swimming cove there also. Sadly, we were not ready for this and so we couldn't swim there. We went on a trail at 5:00. At this point everybody started leaving other than us and a woman and her daughter. It seemed weird but we just went on further into the trail. Then some water struck us hard to make us think why they had left. It started raining. First it was minute, and then soon it started pouring. We did not have a car, so, we had to walk back from where we had come from. We were drenched by the time we reached our hotel. We had to change clothes one last time for the day and sleep.

My Hawaii Trip (re-edited)

The weather wasn't that good in my state and I lay on my bed hoping that Hawaii would have better weather in store for us. About 30 minutes before we left for the airport, I started sleeping. When we reached the airport, I couldn't wait to get to Hawaii. My favorite part would always be to see the hotel. You might say that all the hotels would look pretty much the same. But that's wrong. They look pretty much... different! Anyway, once we got off the airplane that was bound to Kauai from Honolulu, we went to our car rental, picked up our car, and then, headed home, I mean to our hotel (but basically, a hotel is a vacation home). The next day, we began our first day of Kauai. That day, we were seeking out a Hindu Monastery that is absolutely run by Americans. The founder of this temple was, Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami. He left San Francisco and traveled to Sri Lanka and followed a guru's teachings by praying and meditating. After many years, he came to Hawaii and founded this monastery. The part of Kauai that he has used to create the temple and it's beautiful natural surrounding is gorgeous. There are jackfruit trees, rudraksha trees (see in this link: http://www.google.com/images?q=rudraksha&oe=utf-8&rls=com.ubuntu:en-US:unofficial&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=1400&bih=791), and banyan trees. One of the statues they decided, was to be shipped from India. The people shipping it from India asked if they wanted the stone banyan tree. They said they didn't want it because they already had a humongous large, real banyan tree. Once the statue came and was placed there, one of the sages cried because of how beautiful it looked.While we were driving, my mom told my dad the way to Opaeka Falls. Sadly, we couldn't get very close. We just saw some water falling in 3 different directions. The next place we went to was a hiking place. There was also a wet cave and a dry cave. We just walked up to the wet cave. It kind of looked like a scene from a movie where usually, there are one or more people boating. Then we went on a muddy trail. Two people advised us to not go too far. We just did a 5-10 minute hike and left for our hotel.

My Hawaii Trip

The weather wasn't that good in my state and I lay on my bed hoping that Hawaii would have better weather in store for us. About 30 minutes before we left for the airport, I started sleeping. When we reached the airport, I couldn't wait to get to Hawaii. My favorite part would always be to see the hotel. You might say that all the hotels would look pretty much the same. But that's wrong. They look pretty much... different! Anyway, once we got off the airplane that was bound to Kauai from Honolulu, we went to our car rental, picked up our car, and then, headed home, I mean to our hotel (but basically, a hotel is a vacation home). The next day, we began our first day of Kauai. That day, we went to a temple, watched Opaeka Falls, and went for a small hike for about 10 minutes then returned to our hotel. The next day we didn't do much and after that, we went on a tour (by ourselves) around our hotel. We did notice people left by 5:00 from everywhere they were. We did not know why this was until rain poured down on us. We came back to our hotel, drenched since we had walked. The next day we went to Hawaii and explored the whereabouts of everything. We also went on a submarine tour that day, before we returned to our hotel. Our last full day we had, was spent on swimming in the ocean and walking on a trail. Unexpectedly, the trail led us to a temple built by the famous king of Hawaii named King Kamehameha. It was believed that if the king built a temple and sacrificed anybody, he would be protected from one of the coming-up wars. He decided he would sacrifice his cousin, who was also his rival. We were also surprised at the size of tools and weapons they had. They must have been very tall. Their longest spear was 16 ft (192 inches) long! Once we explored the trail, we went back to our hotel. The next day was, "Airport Day," literally. We arrived home late at night. Once we came home we collapsed onto our beds. Bye!
